Picturesque Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is part of the Racine market located on Lake Michigan and is situated between Milwaukee and Chicago. Some 12 million people live within 75 miles of the Village of Mount Pleasant/Racine area, The area is home to many popular events hosted by Racine Convention & Visitors Bureau including the Racine Triaathon and EVP Beach Volleyball Tour and National Championships. The market is within reasonable distance to Iowa, Minnesota,Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.
The Village of Mount Pleasant and the Racine Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to announce it will be hosting its first ever “Half Marathon” on Saturday, April 10 as part of the nationwide USRA Half Marathon Series. In addition to the featured Half Marathon, a 5K (3.l mile) and Fun Run (1 Mile) will also be held.. All of the runs will start and finish at the Case High School Stadium which will also be the site of the Finish Line Celebration featuring ample refreshments and “live” music! The scenic, countryside race course also incorporates Mount Pleasant’s popular 2 mile nature preserve just before the finish on the Stadium Track.
The Mount Pleasant Half Marathon will be one of the midwest’s first major events of the spring racing season offering historically cool and ideal running conditions. Each USRA Half Marathon Series event lives up to its motto of “Where the Runner Comes First” and Mount Pleasant April 10 will be no exception. The 2-day event kicks off on Friday, April 9 from 11am – 5pm with a Runner’s/Health & Fitness Expo at race presenting sponsor “Razor Sharp Fitness”, also the official “training “ headquarters. A “fun, festive” atmosphere will greet all participants with the event welcoming all abilities and ages with walkers, strollers and head phones welcomed along with runners vying for the nearly 150 awards!
All Mount Pleasant Half Marathon participants will receive a high-quality “tech” shirt with a quality medal presented to all finishers. An attractive race shirt will go to all 5K and Fun Run participants. Participants will be inspired by music throughout the course and a “Live Band” performing at the finish line party. The Mount Pleasant Half Marathon event will be the 3rd stop on the nationwide USRA Half Marathon Series. With more to be added, 2010 events currently on the the USRA schedule in addition to Mount Pleasant include Columbia SC (February 27), Bentonville AR (March 13), Lexington KY (March 28), Council Bluffs IA (May 23, Worcester MA (June 6), Joplin MO (October 10), Lafayette IN (October 24) and Lancaster PA (October 31) with more to be announced.
